FuelAware Privacy Policy

Data Collection

FuelAware does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. We (the developer) never see your flight data, fuel records, aircraft profiles, or anything else you enter into the app. The app connects to the network only for two purposes: (1) Apple’s App Store, to process your subscription, and (2) anonymous usage analytics, described below.

Data Stored on Your Device

To function, FuelAware stores the following locally on your device only:

• Aircraft profiles you create (tail number, tank configuration, fuel type)

• Fuel state, tank-swap logs, and flight legs/trips

• Fuel stop records you enter, including optional cost information (price per gallon, fees, location notes)

• Derived statistics the app computes from your entries (burn rates, cost summaries)

• App preferences (appearance, cost-tracking mode, onboarding status)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (see Sharing below). Deleting the app permanently removes all of its data.

Sharing & Export

FuelAware lets you export your data as a data file or PDF report via the iOS share sheet (e.g., AirDrop, Mail, Messages). Exports happen only when you initiate them, and the data goes only where you send it. FuelAware has no server and receives no copy.

Notifications

With your permission, FuelAware schedules local notifications on your device (tank-swap reminders during flight, and optional setup reminders after you install the apps during flight). These are generated and delivered entirely on-device. Live Activities (Lock Screen / Dynamic Island) are likewise rendered on-device. You can revoke notification permission anytime in iOS Settings.

Third Parties, Analytics & Tracking

FuelAware uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany, to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example, how many people open the subscription screen, start a flight, or export a report. This helps us decide what to build next.

What TelemetryDeck receives:

• Event names (e.g. “flight started”), with no flight data, aircraft data, or fuel figures attached

• Device model, iOS version, app version, and locale

• A one-way hashed (salted) device identifier that cannot be reversed to identify you or your device, and is never shared with anyone

What it does not do:

• No advertising identifier (IDFA), no App Tracking Transparency request, no cross-app tracking

• No cookies, no fingerprinting, no advertising frameworks

• Data is not linked to your identity and is not sold or shared with third parties

• No iCloud/CloudKit sync in this version

TelemetryDeck’s own privacy policy is at telemetrydeck.com/privacy. Your subscription is handled entirely by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; FuelAware never sees your payment details.

Children’s Privacy

FuelAware is rated 4+ and collects no personal data from anyone, including children. The anonymous usage statistics described above contain no personal information.

Your Choices

• Delete everything: delete the app — all data is removed with it.

• Notifications: manage in iOS Settings → FuelAware.

• Analytics: the usage statistics are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you, so there is nothing to delete; contact us if you have questions.

Safety Notice

FuelAware is a situational-awareness aid. It is not a substitute for preflight fuel planning, aircraft instruments, visual fuel checks, or your Pilot Operating Handbook. Always manage fuel in accordance with your POH and applicable regulations.

Changes to This Policy

If a future version of FuelAware changes how data is handled (for example, optional iCloud sync), this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before that version ships.
